Nummer 530 von 980 Exemplaren der Gesamtauflage. Vollfaksimile der Ms. 13 der Hofbibliothek Aschaffenburg. Zweisprachige Ausgabe in Deutsch und Latein. Der Faksimileband mit 71 farbigen und goldgehöhten Miniaturen (Szenen aus dem Neuen Testament, zum Teil ganzseitig) und über 300 kleineren, farbigen Schmuckinitialen, der Kommentarband mit farbigen und schwarz-weißen Abbildungen. Der Einband des Faksimile ist dem Einband des ebenfalls im 13. Jahrhundert entstandenen Preetzer Evangeliars nachempfunden. Der um 1250 enstandene Codex aureus, vollständig mit Goldtinte geschrieben und mit reicher Illumination, knüpft an die kaiserliche Tradition der goldenen Evangelienbücher aus karolingischer und ottonischer Zeit an und nimmt unter den Handschriften des 11. bis 13. Jahrhunderts eine Sonderstellung ein. Kassette minimal berieben, ansonsten tadelloses Exemplar.
Original leather binding with a silver plate embedded in the front cover (featuring four gilded medallions with the symbols of the Evangelists in the corners and a gilded depiction of Christ in the center), gilt edges, and red original cloth binding with gilt-embossed title on the cover and spine, housed in an original cloth case with an acrylic glass window matching the size of the silver plate. Number 530 of 980 copies in the total edition. Complete facsimile of Ms. 13 from the Hofbibliothek Aschaffenburg. Bilingual edition in German and Latin. The facsimile volume includes 71 coloured and gold-heightened miniatures (scenes from the New Testament, some full-page) and over 300 smaller coloured decorative initials, while the commentary volume contains coloured and black-and-white illustrations. The binding of the facsimile is modeled after the binding of the Preetz Evangelary, also created in the 13th century. The Codex Aureus, created around 1250, is entirely written in gold ink and richly illuminated, following the imperial tradition of golden Gospel books from the Carolingian and Ottonian periods, and holds a special place among the manuscripts of the 11th to 13th centuries. The case is minimally rubbed, otherwise fine condition.
