Erste Ausgabe. Mit insgesamt 1039 Textabbildungen in Farbe, zwei Doppeltafeln und einer Stereoskoptafel. Das Werk vereint Abhandlungen zu unterschiedlichen Kampfmitteln (darunter Schusswaffen, Sprengkörper, Flammenwerfer und Giftgas) und deren Auswirkungen auf den menschlichen Körper, zur Wundinfektion, Amputation und plastischen Chirurgie sowie einen umfangreichen Teil, der sich insbesondere mit der Typologie und Therapie von Schussverletzungen befasst. Einbände berieben, bestoßen und lichtrandig. Rücken mit Papiersignatur der Nassauischen Landesbibliothek und mit Vorbesitzerstempel auf fliegendem Blatt. In den Gelenken etwas gelockert. Die beiden letzten Blätter von Band 1 in der oberen Ecke mit kleiner Fehlstelle. Buchblock von Band 2 an zwei Ecken etwas gestaucht. Insgesamt gutes Exemplar dieses elaborierten Werkes.
Original half-cloth bindings with gilt lettering to spine and front cover and illustrated endpapers. First edition. With a total of 1,039 text illustrations in color, two double-page plates, and one stereoscopic plate. The work brings together treatises on various weapons (including firearms, explosive devices, flamethrowers, and poison gas) and their effects on the human body, on wound infection, amputation, and plastic surgery, as well as an extensive section devoted in particular to the classification and treatment of gunshot wounds. Bindings rubbed, bumped, and faded at the edges. Spines with paper shelf labels of the Nassau State Library and with a previous owner’s stamp on the front free endpaper. Joints slightly loosened. The two final leaves of Volume I with a small loss to the upper corner. Text block of Volume II slightly bruised at two corners. Overall a good copy of this elaborate work.
