Mit ornamentaler Titelvignette in Holzschnitt, einer Schmuckinitiale und eingedruckten Marginalien. Das Examen decretorum Concilii Tridenti ist das bedeutendste Werk des lutherischen Theologen und Reformators Martin Chemnitz (1522-1586) zur lutherischen Auseinandersetzung mit den Beschlüssen und Lehren des Konzils von Trient und legte den Grundstein für den historischen Disput mit dem katholischen Theologen Diogo de Paiva de Andrade. Die Erstausgabe erschien 1565-1573 in vier Teilen in Frankfurt am Main, gedruckt bei Sigmund Feyerabend, Simon Hüter und Georg Corvinus. Die erste vollständige Neuausgabe als Opus integrum folgte 1574 bei Peter Fabricius für Sigmund Feyerabend, ebenfalls in Frankfurt am Main. Eine weitere vollständige Ausgabe erschien 1576 bei Paul Reffeler. Die vorliegende Ausgabe bildet deren dritten Teil. Einband und Schnitt leicht berieben, Einband zudem etwas fleckig. Vorsatzpapiere mit kleineren Fehlstellen. Seiten nur leicht gedunkelt, stellenweise minimal stockfleckig, einige Seiten mit blassem Wasserrand (ohne Textberührung, wenig gedunkelt, nicht wellig). Gutes bis sehr gutes Exemplar.

The Examen decretorum Concilii Tridenti is the most important work by the Lutheran theologian and reformer Martin Chemnitz (1522–1586) on the Lutheran engagement with the decrees and teachings of the Council of Trent and laid the foundation for the historic dispute with the Catholic theologian Diogo de Paiva de Andrade. The first edition appeared in four parts in Frankfurt am Main, 1565–1573, printed by Sigmund Feyerabend, Simon Hüter, and Georg Corvinus. The first complete new edition as Opus integrum followed in 1574, published by Peter Fabricius for Sigmund Feyerabend, likewise in Frankfurt am Main. A further complete edition appeared in 1576 from Paul Reffeler. The present edition constitutes its third part. Binding and edges slightly rubbed, binding also somewhat spotted. Endpapers with minor defects. Pages only slightly toned, occasionally minimally foxed; some pages with a pale waterstain (not affecting text, only slightly darkened, not wavy). Good to very good copy.
